Orientation & New Student Programs

Parent Checklist

Before Orientation

Your Student has a list of things to do to prepare for orientation:

The parent/guest program is a separate concurrent program which means you will be separated from your student for part of the day. Prep your student to ask questions so they can get to know other students and staff!

To help you get the most out of your parent/guest orientation, we suggest the following:

  • Bring a pen/pencil and a notepad so you can take notes and jot down questions.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for Chico summer weather. We also recommend you bring a sweater or a sweatshirt, as air-conditioned buildings can get chilly!
  • Need Lodging and Accommodations or Directions to Campus?
  • Plan to arrive early to allow time to park and check in for your session. Check-in begins at 8AM in the Bell Memorial Union Plaza.
  • Make sure to park in the designated lots and pay for parking or risk being ticketed.
  • Participants who need special accommodations should contact the Summer Orientation Office at least 10 days prior to their scheduled session.
