Orientation & New Student Programs

What to Expect

Your Orientation Session will include:

Small Group Discussion

A peer advisor from the Summer Orientation program will share:

  • Graduation requirements
  • Course selection strategies
  • Registration procedures
  • Valuable ‘Insider’ tips on how to successfully start your university career

Major and Undeclared Advising

For an optimal orientation experience, choose an orientation date when your major or possible major will be represented. Refer to the Session Dates link for college and department advising dates. A major advisor will:

  • Help you explore the major you have chosen
  • Explain specific major requirements
  • Assist you with course selection

If you haven’t yet chosen a major, you are considered Undeclared, and a professional Academic Advisor will be available to:

  • Help you explore possible majors
  • Explain general education requirements
  • Assist you with course selection

Registration for Classes

By attending a Summer Orientation session you have the earliest possible access for new students to register for Fall 2020! You will get the opportunity to register for classes with help from major and peer advisors and you will learn to navigate through your Chico State portal account.
