Preparing for Orientation: Transfers

Before Orientation:

  • Please note: If you have outstanding coursework and/or units required needed to meet your admission requirements, you will not be able to register for classes at Summer Orientation until your final Spring grade(s) are submitted to Admissions.
  • Send ALL final college transcripts and/or grade confirmations to the Office of Admissions by July 15, 2019.
  • Obtain immunization records and make copies to bring to Orientation (you may also bring copies in the fall if you prefer.)
  • Check out our Travel & Accommodations section for information including Directions to Campus and Lodging.
  • Participants who need special accommodations should contact the Summer Orientation at least 10 days prior to their scheduled session.
  • Check your Wildcat email regularly. This is the official mode of communication for CSU, Chico.

Day of Orientation:

  • Plan to arrive early to allow time to park and check in for your session. Check-in begins at 8AM in the Bell Memorial Union Plaza.
  • Make sure to park in the designated lots and pay for parking or risk being ticketed. Check out the Parking Page!
  • Bring back-up copies of all transcripts and/or grade confirmations to assist with academic advising at orientation.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for Chico summer weather. We also recommend you bring a sweater or sweatshirt, as air-conditioned buildings can get chilly!
  • Bring a photo ID and be prepared to have your picture taken for your Wildcat ID Card!

After of Orientation:

  • If you have applied for financial aid, make sure you have viewed and accepted, or declined, your award offer. To do this, access your Portal Account, enter your Student Center, scroll to Finances and click View Financial Aid. Questions, contact Financial Aid.
  • Make sure that you pay Registration Fees by the deadline. Check your Portal account or contact Student Financial Services.
  • Check your living assignments if you are living in University Housing.
  • Visit the Wildcat Store website to order your textbooks.
  • Plan to attend Wildcat Welcome events the week of August 20-24 including your mandatory department meeting on Friday, August 23, 2019. Transfer students are also encouraged to attend Wildcat Transfermation!
  • Complete the online Alcohol Edu and Not Anymore programs as soon as possible (You can access the link through your Portal.)
  • Classes begin Monday, August 26, 2019!
