Welcome to the Wildcat Family

Congratulations and Welcome to the Wildcat Family! We'd like to congratulate and welcome you and your student into the Wildcat family. As you support your student through this transition, we are here to help support you.

While your student receives many resources and information to help with the transition from high school to college, we know this time is also a period of adjustment for the entire family. First-year students have many "firsts" during the year and transfer students should not assume that all colleges operate the same way. The same holds true for parents of both first-year and transfer students. Regardless, Alumni and Parent Engagement is here to support you as parents during this time of adjustment, as well as during your student's time here and beyond. Send us an email at or call 530-898-6472 if you have questions.

  • Attend online orientation the same day as your student. Orientation will provide the information you and your student need to be successful at Chico State.
  • Sign up for a webinar! Informational webinars for families will give you the latest information throughout the summer. Find the schedule and more information here.
  • Ensure your student has checked their portal for any outstanding financial aid requirements. Check out the Award Guide (PDF) for more information.
  • Inform yourself about campus resources, which will help ensure a smooth transition.

  • Send final transcripts (PDF) by July 15. In order to make sure your student gets the right classes, we need their official high school transcript showing graduation date, and transcripts of any college work completed. Contact the Office of Admissions at 530-898-6322 if you need assistance or have questions.
