Examples of objectives from the mandatory internship meeting:

HEALTH ADMINISTRATION EXAMPLES OF OBJECTIVES

Objective:

By March 3^rd the intern will create a hospital wide patient flow analysis.

Projects / Activities to Fulfill Objective:

• Request & gain access to patient flow data.
• Analyze admission data for planned admissions
• Analyze admission data for ED admissions
• Compare projected discharge dates with actual discharge dates

Objective:

By April 14^th the intern will create a HIPAA breach readiness report and develop recommendations to fill any gaps identified.

Projects / Activities to Fulfill Objective:

• Examine existing internal breach protocol.
• Examine best practice recommendations from HIMSS
• Compare recommendations with best practices
• Identify gaps

HEALTH  EDUCATION EXAMPLES

Objective:

By March 2 the intern will develop a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation designed to educate joint replacement patients about post-surgical rehab protocols

Projects/Activities to Fulfill Objective:

• Review hospitals current replacement handouts/educational materials
• Research joint replacement indicators; surgical options; procedures; post-surgical issues; post-surgery rehab, etc.
• Contact other joint replacement centers to review their post-surgery protocols
• Create PowerPoint: Text and Images
• Review and Edit

Objective:

By April 14 the SHC intern will have presented at least six “The Trouble with Alcohol and Sex” workshops to campus groups/organizations.

Projects/Activities to Fulfill Objective:

• Research university alcohol and sexuality issues
• Meet with CADEC director/intern to discuss project
• Meet with Rape Crisis director/intern to discuss project
• Brainstorm content with  Supervisor
• Create PowerPoint
• Develop pre-post questionnaires
• Develop target list of organizations and contacts
• Schedule workshop dates/times
