Timothy Sowards, PhD

Dr. Timothy Sowards is a full-time Sacramento County Senior Deputy Probation Officer and Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice at California State University, Sacramento, as well as an alumnus of the criminal justice program. He co-founded the Randy Yamada Foundation and Northern California Fraternal Order of Police Lodge and is an executive officer on the California Fraternal Order of Police. He has a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Public Policy and Administration. Dr. Sowards has instructed academy level students throughout California on use of force. He is the creator of the Juvenile Force Perceptions Survey.  His teaching interest include law enforcement use of force, probation, and community corrections. Dr. Sowards started with California State University, Chico in the Fall of 2020.
