The Upsilon Delta Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha (the Political Science honor society) won a “Best Chapter” Award over the summer for their efforts in AY 16-17.  It recognizes the top 16 chapters in the country and is selected from over 800 chapters. The chapter has made student research a focus of their efforts in 2017-2018. The chapter hosts a “research meet up group” to support undergraduate Political Science and Criminal Justice students in their research efforts. These efforts have already come to fruition, as Grayson Boyer submitted his paper entitled “The South China Sea and Maritime Limits: An Analysis of Historical and Legal Materials” to the 2018 Pi Sigma Alpha National Student Conference.  Gray’s paper was accepted and he will be traveling to Washington D.C. On Feb 16-17 to present his work on a panel and to receive comments on his research from graduate students from George Washington University and Georgetown University.

Finally, International Relations student, Jeremy Markley is running for city council! The Orion, the student newspaper on campus, featured Markely on the cover of their Feb. 7 issue. For more information on Jeremy and his campaign, check out the Orion story here.
