Subject: Approval for Revisions to Special Education Program for the Learning Handicapped and Severely Handicapped Specialist Credentials

Upon recommendation of the Faculty Senate and the Provost, I approve the revised Special Education program for the Learning Handicapped and Severely Handicapped Specialist credentials. The revised program, which is administered by the Department of Education within the College of Education, will be implemented effective Fall 1989.

LEARNING HANDICAPPED AND SEVERELY HANDICAPPED SPECIALIST CREDENTIALS: 35-37 Units Required (Depending on Practica Required in EDUC 289)

EDUC 249* Education of Exceptional Students - 3 Units

PSY 254 - Use of Standardized Tests In Special Education - 3 Units

SPPA 249 - Classroom Strategies for Children/Adolescents with Communication Disorders - 3 Units

PSY 249 - Assessment of the Special Education Student - 3 Units

EDUC 344 - Professional Roles and Relationships in Special Education - 2 Units

EDUC 344A - Conferencing and Guidance in Special Education - 2 Units

EDUC 345 - Advanced Classroom Management for Individuals with Exceptional Needs - 3 Units

Learning Handicapped Specialist Component

EDUC 346L/346LA - Instructional Strategies: Learning Handicapped - 3+1 Units

EDUC 347L - Seminar for Supervised Teaching - 3 Unit

EDUC 285S - Supervised Teaching - 8 Units

*EDUC 249  will become  EDUC 289ABC- Field Experience in Education of Exceptional Students; Effective Fall 1990.
