MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS FOR STUDENT OFFICE HOLDERS

As provided in the Chancellor's Office policy, Minimum Academic Qualifications for Student Office Holders (1997), a campus may establish additional requirements. Effective immediately, the following provisions apply to undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students seeking and holding student government offices.

Incumbent Requirements

Undergraduate students must earn nine semester units of credit per term while holding office. Undergraduate students must also maintain a minimum cumulative campus GPA of 2.0.

Post-baccalaureate students must earn six semester units of credit per term and be enrolled and making satisfactory progress in a degree program while holding office. Post-baccalaureate students must also maintain a post-baccalaureate minimum cumulative campus GPA of 3.0.

Undergraduate students are allowed to earn a maximum of 150 cumulative semester units required for a specific baccalaureate degree objective. Post-baccalaureate students are allowed to earn a maximum of 50 cumulative units required for the graduate or credential objective.

Students holding over the maximum number of cumulative units will no longer be eligible to hold office.

Candidate Requirements

Undergraduate candidates must maintain nine semester units of credit per term and have a minimum cumulative campus GPA of 2.0, while running for office.

Post-baccalaureate students must maintain six semester units of credit per term, have a post-baccalaureate minimum cumulative campus GPA of 3.0, and be enrolled and making satisfactory progress in a degree program while running for office.

First semester post-baccalaureate students who earned a bachelor's degree or credential the immediate previous semester from CSU, Chico are eligible to file for office if they have achieved a minimum semester GPA of 3.0 during their final semester as a baccalaureate student. The candidate must also be enrolled in six (6) units and making satisfactory progress in a post-baccalaureate degree program while running for office.
