Subject: Approval for Significant Changes to the BS in Environmental Sciences

BS IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES

Upon the recommendation of the Academic Senate and the Provost, I approve significant changes (details below) to the BS in Environmental Sciences within the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences, College of Natural Sciences effective fall 2009.

Significant changes to the major core will reduce the number of units in the core from 49 units to 43 units.

Significant changes to the Option in Applied Ecology will increase the number of units in the option from 22 units to 26 units.

Significant changes to the Option in Atmospheric Science will increase the number of units in the option from 21 units to 29 units.

Significant changes to the Option in Earth Resource Science will increase the number of units in the option from 18 units to 28 units.

Significant changes to the Option in Environmental Chemistry will increase the number of units in the option from 21-22 units to 29-30 units.

Significant changes to the Option in Hydrologic Science will increase the number of units in the option from 25-26 units to 31-32 units

The combined significant changes to the BS in Environmental Science will change the course requirements for the major from 67-75 units to 69-75 units.
