Office of the President

Approval of a Minor Change to the BA in Music Industry and Technology

Executive Memorandum 12-034 February 28, 2012

From: Paul J. Zingg, President

Subject: Approval of a Minor Change to the BA in Music Industry and Technology

Upon the recommendation of the Provost, I approve a minor change to the BA in Music Industry and Technology. This change is in response to the National Association of Schools of Music Commission Action Report which addresses a requirement of ensemble instruction in the Music Industry Option. The Music Department will move the ensemble courses from the Option in Recording Arts to the major core of the program. This will decrease the units in the Option in Recording Arts from 23 to 21 and increase the number of units required for the major from 53-54 to 54-55. This change will also eliminate lower division ensemble courses as electives. It was determined it is not necessary to offer both lower and upper division versions of ensemble courses. This change will be effective Fall 2012.
