Subject: Approval of a Minor Change to the BA in Music

Upon the recommendation of the Provost, I approve a minor change to the BA in Music. This change reduces the number of units for the major from 53-66 to 50-63 by reducing the number of option units from 40-53 to 37-50.

The number of units for the General Music Option will reduce from 40-43 to 37-40. MUSC 203 will be removed from the list of required courses reducing the number of required courses for this option from 6 to 5.

The number of units for the Music Education Option will reduce from 52-53 to 49-50. MUSC 203 will be removed from the list of required courses reducing the number of required courses for this option from 15 to 14.

The Recording Arts Option units will remain the same but the WP course for this option will change from MUSC 309 to MUSC 345.

The Music Industry Option units will increase from 42 to 45. The number of required courses for this option will increase from 10 to 12. The student will no longer have a choice between MUSC 351 and MUSC 489. These two courses will be required. MUSC 291 will be replaced in the list of required courses with MUSC 294, and the WP course for this option will change from MUSC 309 to MUSC 452.

This change will be effective Fall 2014.
