Ann Sherman

Ann Sherman is the Vice President for Business and Finance. Her career path has been a winding road that has always led back to higher education. Her parents are both educators and she developed an appreciation for learning at an early age. She attended graduate school in the Industrial/Organizational Psychology doctoral program at Wayne State University.

Ms. Sherman initially worked in private industry, first in the natural gas utility industry, then a tier one automotive supply company, and then into medical devices. In 2007, Ms. Sherman returned to higher education when she relocated to Marquette, Michigan, to become the director of Human Resources and Equal Employment Opportunity officer at Northern Michigan University. In 2014, Ms. Sherman was recruited to San Francisco State University as the associate vice president of Human Resources. She was subsequently promoted to senior AVP, and then served as the vice president of Administration and Finance from January 2017 through June 2018, before returning to her senior AVP role.

In January 2019, CSU, Chico named Ms. Sherman Vice President for Business and Finance and Chief Financial Officer, with a scope of responsibility including Financial Services; University Budget & Operations (Environmental Health & Safety, Business Information Technology Services, Business Services, Risk Management); Human Resources; University Police; Facilities Management & Services; Planning, Design & Construction; and Audit/Continuous Improvement.
