Office of the President

Nov. 1, 2016 – Search for Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

To: Campus Community

From: Gayle E. Hutchinson, President

The search for Chico State’s next provost is well under way. I am excited and optimistic as we begin the process of selecting this very important leader for our campus. I am feeling grateful as well for what has proven to be a productive, collaborative effort so far.

Firstly, I would like to thank the members of the search committee who will carefully evaluate all applicants and select the 3-4 finalists who will visit campus in early 2017. They are: Susan Avanzino, Brooke Banks, Debra Barger, Lori Fuentes, Annette Heileson, Lori Holcombe, Jeni Kitchell, Frank Li, William Loker, Brian Oppy, Chela Patterson, Arno Rethans, Tray Robinson, Kathryn Silliman, Tamara Fleet, Angela Trethewey, Jed Wyrick and Charles Zartman.

Secondly, I would like to thank the campus community for participating in meetings with our consultants from Academic Search and helping them understand our campus needs and the type of candidate we are looking for as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. Thanks also to those of you who responded with feedback on the position announcement, which is stronger because of your input.

Finally, I would like to thank Lori Miller and the Academic Search team of Jessica Kozloff, Nancy Suttenfield, and Lisa Rosenberg for all the work they do behind the scenes to support the process. Especially important is the campus profile, which portrays our university in a very favorable light; you will find the profile on the Academic Search website, under Current Searches.

The search committee will work throughout the fall to bring the finalists to campus in late January, early February. I hope that you will watch campus announcements for notice of the open forums for each finalist and provide the feedback that is so important to the process.

Sincerely,

Gayle E. Hutchinson
