February 18, 2022 – Statement on Chancellor’s Resignation
Dear Campus Community,
By now, you have likely heard the Board of Trustees accepted Joseph Castro's(opens in new window) resignation from his position as CSU Chancellor.
The Board also announced an independent, systemwide assessment of the CSU’s Title IX policies and practices. I welcome the Board's review and look forward to improving how we effectively and quickly respond to these incidents.
At Chico State, we take sexual assault and misconduct allegations seriously. The University has resources in place for anyone who is experiencing any threat to their safety or ability to thrive at our University. The Title IX office can provide guidance and support regarding discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, assault, or other similar acts. Additionally, you can access free confidential services from WellCat Safe Place and counseling from the Employee Assistance Program.
The change in leadership at the Chancellor's office does not change our University's commitment to and focus on, student success. We are moving forward with our mission of providing exceptional educational opportunities for all students to become the thinkers and leaders of the future.
Thank you for all you do for our students.
Sincerely,
Gayle E. Hutchinson
