May 5, 2022- Thank You for Making Spring 2022 a Success

Dear Campus Community,

We are nearing the end of the spring semester and the first commencement ceremony is less than two weeks away! I know this is an extremely busy time as you prepare for finals, grading, and closing out the academic year.

Before we transition to summer, let’s take a moment to look back and recognize what we accomplished together. Four months ago, we made the decision to begin the semester on-time and with in-person instruction. In fact, Chico State was one of only five CSUs to make that choice. It was a difficult decision. Yet, we approached it like we do all tough decisions: by prioritizing student success.

The pandemic has been emotionally draining for all of us. We navigated it by fine-tuning our health and safety measures. And, thanks to a truly collaborative effort from students, faculty, and staff, we not only made it through the semester, we thrived. Faculty and staff deserve high praise. Your care for one another, your adherence to our health and safety policies, and your desire to make Chico State the collegiate experience our students anticipated when they enrolled here are the primary reasons spring 2022 has been a bounce-back semester for Chico State. Thank you!

You also have set the tone for next year. While we continue to monitor COVID-19, you can expect a lively campus come fall.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming commencement ceremonies and wish you a summer that includes time for rest and rejuvenation.

In appreciation,

Gayle E. Hutchinson

President
