August 16, 2022 – Staffing Expectations for the Fall Semester
Dear Staff and Administrators,
Welcome back! This week thousands of students return to Chico State for the start of an exciting fall semester. For many, it will be their first time attending college and first time living away from home. As dedicated employees, it is our responsibility to provide incoming and continuing students with transformative experiences and instill in them the enduring commitment to excellence and accountability. In return, students are looking forward to a vibrant residential campus experience. Each one of us plays a critical role in making that happen.
Before COVID hit in early 2020, staff and administrators enjoyed working on campus, interacting with students and colleagues, and soaking up all our beautiful campus had to offer. The pandemic changed the way we live and work. Now, we have learned to manage COVID-19 and I believe we are up to the challenge of fully returning to in-person operations while we continue to adhere to all Cal/OSHA, CDPH, and Chico State workplace COVID safety requirements. Therefore, effective immediately, everyone is expected to work from campus unless you have an approved telework agreement.
Approved telework agreements on file with HR will be revisited for fall 2022 semester and beyond. If a current telework arrangement needs to be modified, employees will be provided 21 days’ notice. Chico State supports telecommuting when the project, center, or department determines that telecommuting is operationally feasible and is in its best interest.
Please work with your supervisors to determine eligibility for telecommuting. Future Telework agreements must be signed by all appropriate parties. Once all signatures are obtained, a copy must be sent to Human Resources (humanresources@csuchico.edu). If you have any questions associated with the policy or forms, please contact humanresources@csuchico.edu.
Sincerely,
Gayle E. Hutchinson
