July 13, 2022 – Appointment of Chief of Staff

Dear Campus Community,

I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Seema Sehrawat has accepted the position of chief of staff in my office effective, August 2, 2022.

For more than 3 years, Dr. Sehrawat has served with distinction as the associate dean of the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management (ECC) and as program director for the Concrete Industry Management (CIM) Program. Prior to her time in ECC, she served the School of Social Work in various leadership roles. She is passionate about serving students, staff, and faculty at Chico State and believes deeply in the collective work that we all do.

As associate dean, Dr. Sehrawat created and led several successful initiatives for the college and CIM program. Examples include infrastructure development (classroom and lab remodels), student success center expansion, and enhancing local and national relationships with CIM patrons. She has a record of fiscal responsibility, building partnerships, and bringing together collaborators to advance strategic priorities. With a PhD in Social Work from University of Missouri-Columbia and a background in information technology, accounting and construction management, she is passionate about data science and understanding all viewpoints.

I have observed Dr. Sehrawat’s commitment to working with a diverse student body and know that she excels at partnering with all levels of staff and faculty and enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration on the Chico State campus. As a first-generation, international college graduate, she cares deeply about equity, diversity, and inclusion and nurturing a collaborative work and learning environment. 

I am confident Dr. Sehrawat will be an essential contributor to campus and look forward to seeking her advice, counsel, and support on current and emerging issues and opportunities. She brings with her experience in multiple roles and colleges, and a willingness to understand the perspectives of all.
