April 15, 2024 - Presenting the First Draft of the Community Agreements
Dear Campus Community,
As a university, we are taking steps to strengthen and improve our campus climate and interactions. We have recently conducted the Great Colleges to Work For survey, which will give us important information and feedback. And we are working on the creation of Community Agreements to establish a framework around how we treat each other and how we expect to be treated.
I am excited to share with you the first draft of our Community Agreements(opens in new window). The Other Conduct of Concern Subcommittee, augmented by other campus colleagues, worked to create the attached draft. The goal of the Community Agreements is to create a place where we all want to study, live, and work, a place where everyone belongs and thrives.
The subcommittee has begun meeting with various stakeholders on campus to gather feedback on the draft. Seya Lumeya, director of climate and culture and chair of the subcommittee, and other members of the subcommittee are available to make presentations to departments or units, at your request. If you would like to provide feedback individually, please email Seya at nlumeya@csuchico.edu. I encourage everyone to be involved in the process to create this defining document.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone who participated in the Great Colleges to Work For survey. We had a 32% participation rate campuswide. I appreciate you taking the time to share your views and opinions. The survey is designed to gather benchmarking data and tell us how we are doing within higher education and among institutions that have built great workplaces. ModernThink will share results from the survey with the select campus groups prior to the release of the report to campus in the fall.
Thank you for all you do,Steve Perez
