April 17, 2024 - Supporting Transfer Student Success Via Community College Partnerships

Dear Campus Community,

I’m thrilled to share a momentous collaboration with our North State community college partners that will transform the educational pathways for students across our region for generations to come. On Monday, April 29, we will host Regional Impact Day, where we will sign Memoranda of Understanding with five community colleges that will facilitate dual admission and streamlined transfer for students interested in pursuing their bachelor’s degrees at Chico State.

Together with Butte College, College of the Siskiyous, Lassen Community College, Shasta College, and Yuba College, we will sign agreements that establish a transfer guarantee and collaborative steps to identify and support all students who might consider this path. Members of our campus community who would like to celebrate this historic collaboration are invited to attend the signing ceremony at 2 p.m. at Selvester’s Café-by-the-Creek.

Our commitment is to provide a high-quality, high-value education to any student who attends Chico State, and in doing so, we help them transform their lives, their families, and the communities they will call home. These MOUs will go a long way in establishing pathways that are as seamless as possible for students from these community colleges. It will eliminate barriers in student progress toward a bachelor’s degree and establish next steps in their educational futures while also making Chico State their college of choice.

I anticipate these are just the first of many collaborations and innovative partnerships to come with North State community colleges. We will continue to elevate opportunities for the region’s students and support them in their educational aspirations.
