April 9, 2024 – A Choose Chico to Remember!

Dear Campus Community, 

Once again, I am completely in awe of what we can accomplish together. Choose Chico this past Saturday was an overwhelming success. We showcased our campus and what it’s like to be a student here to more than 5,000 guests. This event, especially, requires a campuswide effort and, Chico State, you delivered!

I know a lot of work went into planning and preparation for this day and it showed. I want to thank the Office of Admissions staff, under the leadership of interim Director Jeff Logsdon and Campus Experience Coordinator Sarah Wood, for setting the stage for a successful and smoothly run event. And the effort didn’t stop there. From FMS and Laxson staff to Associated Students Conference Services, it took all of us to create this wildly successful event.

Even with registration lines that spanned five blocks, our guests were pleased to be here. We welcomed them with the best that Chico has to offer and the response was awesome. We are estimating attendance at 1,705 students and 5,011 people total! That’s around 24% higher on overall guest count than 2019, previously our largest Choose Chico, and 17% higher on student attendance, around 250 more students!

Declaration stations and the Admissions table saw 78 students submit their intent to enroll. An additional 220 students submitted intents to enroll between April 6 and April 8, on par with the pace after the 2023 Choose Chico event.

Chico State, we can all be very proud of our campus and community. Thank you all for the work you do. You made a big impression and it makes a difference.
