Quality Learning and Teaching (QLT)

QLT Training

The Office of Faculty Development(opens in new window) is partnering with the Technology & Learning Program(opens in new window) to offer a series of synchronous workshops and an asynchronous course in Canvas designed around the Quality Learning and Teaching (QLT) instrument(opens in new window).

Spring 2023

There will be two options to complete the QLT training in Spring 2023.

  • Option 1: Complete a series of 5 workshops, offered synchronously
  • Option 2: Complete an asynchronous course in Canvas

If you cannot attend the whole series, you are welcome to attend just a few workshops, please register here(opens in new window).

Option 1: Synchronous Online Workshops
All workshops are offered on Tuesday afternoons, 2:00-3:30 p.m., via Zoom.

Option 2: Asynchronous Canvas Course
QLT will be offered for the first time as an asynchronous course in Canvas. We hope that this option will allow for more flexibility, and can be completed at your own pace (although we ask that the final course review is completed by May 31, 2023). More information and access to the Canvas course will be shared in Spring 2023.

The course includes the following 8 learning modules:

  • Module 1: Introduction to QLT & Course Design Goals
  • Module 2: Course Overview & Learner Support (QLT sections 1 and 7)
  • Module 3: Assessment & Evaluation of Student Learning (QLT section 2)
  • Module 4: Course Mapping & Instructional Material Organization (QLT section 3)
  • Module 5: Student Interaction & Engagement (QLT sections 4 and 6)
  • Module 6: Equity, Diversity & Antiracism (QLT section 5)
  • Module 7: Inclusivity & Accessibility (QLT section 8)
  • Module 8: Reflections & Course Review
