Adventure Day Camp

Ages

The camp is designed for children aged 6–12. The groups are created according to age and are in a 10:1 camper/counselor ratio for 6 and 7 year olds, 10:1 for children 8 and 9, and 10:1 for those 10 and up. All activities are developmentally appropriate and vary so that each child is able to experience all of the activities.

Staffing

"Best Counselors in Chico." Our camp leaders and counselors bring a variety of skills and experiences to the camp in an effort to provide the best possible camp experience. All of our camp leaders are CPR/AED/First Aid certified. All counselors are Chico State students that are studying in a youth related field.

Camp Schedules

All camps are one week in length and are scheduled throughout the summer. Many of our most popular activities will repeat from week to week: climbing the rock wall, swimming, etc. All other activities such as field trips, sports, demonstrations, etc. can vary from week to week.

Throughout the summer Adventure Day Camp offers theme weeks which incorporate games and demonstrations toward that particular theme. Theme weeks commonly offered in the past have focused on a specific area such as sports skills, emergency responder, animal, etc.

Early morning care (7:30 a.m.–9 a.m.) is not mandatory but rather just a convenience for those parents needing to be to work a little earlier. There is no additional cost for early care.

Adventure Day Camp pick–up time is 4:45–5:30 p.m., there is a $1/minute charge after 5:30. This fee is to be paid at the time of pick–up

Swimming

Swimming is a daily activity in our camp. With safety in mind, children are required to pass a swim test to determine their abilities to swim without a life jacket. If the swim test is not passed, a life jacket must be worn until the test can be passed.

Lunch & Snack

The fun of camp combined with summer weather will require campers to have lots of energy. We encourage families to pack lunches with healthy, nutritious, warm–weather and backpack–durable foods and drink. Please be sure to include enough food in your child's lunch to support both a morning and afternoon snack.

Parent Involvement

We encourage all parents to be involved in their camper's experience. In order to help this process along, there is a standing invitation for "Lunch with Your Favorite Camper". Also, please utilize our electronic mail bag program. Each day at lunch, our staff will provide hard copies of any message, joke, or quick note you want to e–mail to your child. Send e–mails to summercat@csuchico.edu.
