Michelle's professional experience includes serving as the Assistant Director and Program Manager (1997-2016) for the statewide New Mexico Alliance for Minority Participation at New Mexico State University (NMSU), where she managed professional and student staff; budgets; the collection, analysis, and reporting of program evaluation and assessment requirements; and strategic planning.

Annual program activities included a statewide student research conference that hosted approximately 300 students, staff, and faculty; transfer student support, statewide partnership planning meetings; and a year-round Undergraduate Research Assistantship program that supported approximately 80 students each year.

Additional responsibilities included support of the NMSU College of Engineering Freshman Year Experience (FYE) project and the NMSU Higher Learning Commission Quality Initiative, which incorporated student writing at all levels of the undergraduate experience campus-wide.

Most recently, she worked as a Consultant with CT Education Evaluation & Consulting, Las Cruces, NM, providing grant writing and educational program evaluation services. While there, she led a team that secured a $4 million grant renewal from the National Science Foundation (2018-2023). 

She holds a B.A. in English with a minor in Technical and Professional Writing, an M.A. in Technical and Professional Communication, and is currently a Ph.D. student in Rhetoric and Professional Communication.
