
Katelyn Fansler
Katelyn Fansler is an undergraduate student at California State University, Chico, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with a concentration in Applied Ecology and a minor in Geology. Her passion for environmental science began after experiencing the 2018 Camp Fire, which inspired her to better understand the environmental factors behind natural disasters and work toward sustainable, science-based solutions. Katelyn currently works under Dr. Sandrine Matiasek in the Environmental Science Department, where she assists with research focused on soil health in agroecosystems. She has also gained valuable field and community experience through her work as an Urban Forest Intern with the Butte Environmental Council and as a Climate Sustainability Fellow with the California Climate Action Corps. Katelyn’s interests include soil ecology, ecosystem restoration, and climate resilience, and she is honored to contribute to projects that promote sustainable land management and environmental stewardship.
