Center for Regenerative Agriculture and Resilient Systems

Paige Flaig

Student Research Assistant
I am an undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science (Food Production) with a strong academic foundation and hands-on experience in agronomy/animal science research, and agricultural practices. Through my research and internship experiences I have developed a keen understanding of sustainable farming practices and data analysis.
Previously, I had the opportunity to be a Student Intern at the Chico State Sheep Unit. Through this role, I was able to gain valuable expertise in livestock care, research protocols, and the collection of complex data, while managing a variety of responsibilities from health assessments to nutritional analysis. I was also able to involve myself in student research through the CSC^2 program, working with faculty mentors, where I found a passion for the agronomy side of the industry. I have deepened this interest through becoming involved in multiple research projects focused on forage crops, intercropping systems, and innovative technology for legume classification.
I am currently the Vice President of the Sheep Association and Secretary of the Rangeland Management Club, where I develop effective communication strategies and engage fellow students on agricultural topics. While juggling academics and extracurricular activities, I am a part time employee of The Citrus People and a new member to the RAD Lab team as a Student Intern and Research Assistant, where I continue to learn more about the industry through hands-on experiences.
Through being in the RAD Lab and interacting with the CRARS team, I have been able to explore the importance of regenerative agriculture and the innovative practices and technologies that make it possible. I am passionate about the intersection of animal science, agronomy and regenerative technology. I hope to continue to drive my passion forward after graduation by attending a master's program focused on agricultural research while encouraging innovation implementation in the food production industry simultaneously.
