In order to test and document your results you will need to get your soil tested. Dr. Johnson shares simple techniques for collecting soil samples below. 

Simple method to take soil samples. Soil samples taken to assess soil carbon content can be easily acquired with this method. You can select an area in a field and take multiple composite samples at various depths to capture soil carbon in the top 6" (15 cm) 12" (30 cm) and 18" (45 cm).
