Clayton Handy

Clayton Handy grew up in a rural community in Idaho; however, he wasn’t personally involved in agriculture until his adult years.

He received a Bachelor's in Business with a minor in Spanish from Brigham Young University in Idaho in 2005. After working in the family transportation business in Utah for six years, Clayton decided to go back to school in 2013 to earn a Bachelor's in Forestry with a minor in Horticulture from Utah State.  With his second Bachelor’s degree, Clayton worked as a certified arborist until he went into farming full-time as the current Unit Manager at Deseret Farms in Chico, overseeing 2,000 acres of commercial walnuts.

Clayton is the second student to enter the regenerative agriculture interdisciplinary degree program. He will be studying the use of cover crops in production orchards.
