Utilizing Mating Disruption and Regional Almond Variety Trial Field Day

April 11, 2025, from 9:00 am-1:00 pm at the Chico State University Farm

Several exciting developments are happening in the pest management industry lately. During this event we will cover the benefits of disrupting Navel Orangeworm mating within orchard settings by using encapsulated pheromone disruption materials. This is a nontoxic approach that protects beneficial insects and other species by using precision agriculture technologies such as drones to support sustainable pest management goals.

You'll also learn about the status of the University of California Regional Almond Variety Trial currently taking place on the Chico State University Farm.

This presentation is designed to provide an example of how regenerative practices can be established through pathways within conventional almond production settings. Topics include:

  • The Regional Almond Variety Trial
  • Integrated Pest Management practices
  • Protection of beneficials
  • Drone technology
  • Precision agricultural technology
  • Benefits of adequate beneficial predator populations

A catered lunch will be provided.
