Regen Ag Planner

Online Tool for Farmers and Conservation Planners

Building a sustainable and profitable farm or rangeland takes strategic thinking and careful planning. Our new Regen Ag Planner combines a powerful resiliency explorer that helps conservation planners and farmers accurately identify the challenges and potential solutions for a specific property with true modeling capabilities that show stored soil organic carbon and greenhouse gas changes based on user-provided land-management strategies.

Game-Changing Approach

The Regen Ag Planner builds off our previous work with the California Agricultural Resilience Explorer which is now built into an easy-to-navigate, integrated package that combines several novel capabilities:

  • Risk exploration with map overlays showing conservation areas, wetlands, areas of high subsidence, and overdrawn aquifers.
  • Resiliency / risk mitigation exploration with scores based on expert soil scientists’ and researchers’ assessments.
  • True modeling and comparison of plan outputs leveraging recent research on California-specific crops, soils, and growing regions.
  • Cost estimates for implementation of regenerative agricultural practices.
  • Coming soon: the capability to import plans into other agricultural land management tools.

How It Works

Step One: identify an area of interest using an address, Assessor’s Parcel Number, Keyhole Markup Language  geographic data file, or by drawing on a map.

Step Two: explore the risk profile through map overlays, showing areas of high subsidence, conservation areas, wetlands, and overdrawn aquifers. Use the Resilience Explorer to see how changing land management practices affects the resiliency score.

Step Three: use the Planner to enter historical information about your current land management practices, then enter one or more future plans. Submit each plan to see if regenerative practices you selected are reimbursable, and to see modeled effects on soil carbon sequestration and greenhouse gas emissions.
