Cassandra Faith began her tenure as faculty during grad school. Her first lecturing experience was in an introductory class for the option of Recreation Therapy. During this period, she discovered that the world of academic and not the world of service delivery is her forte and passion. Her practical yet heartfelt lectures are the foundation of the relationships she builds with students. The connection with students is the reason she loves her job.
Cassie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Administration with a Business minor from California State University, Fresno in 1989. After several years in jobs ranging from sales associate to seminar coordinator to software trainer, Cassie had the opportunity to return to teaching during the end of her graduate studies. This is where she found her niche. Upon graduation from California State University, Chico with a Master of Arts in Recreation therapy in 1996, and doing an internship in Recreation Therapy at a Rehabilitation Hospital in San Ramon, she returned to teaching in the Department of Recreation, Hospitality, and Parks Management (RHPM) at CSU, Chico.
Her areas of interest include: youth services, recreation programming, professional development, and inclusive recreation. Since her first semester as lecturer, she has taught the courses Leisure and Life, Foundations of Leisure and Recreation, Applications in Recreation, Program Planning, Recreation Therapy and Inclusion, Principles of Event Management, Recreation Therapy for Older Adults, Facilitation Techniques for Recreation Therapy, Program Management in Recreation Therapy, Internship Preparation, and Internship Seminar. She is also the Internship Coordinator for the RHPM Department. Staying busy is easy as the mother of three boys, assistant coach for a local high school swim team and participating in events to help raise support for area non-profit
