Religion and Public Education Project

Publications

RPEP is the home of materials that were formerly housed at the National Council on Religion and Public Education (NCRPE) Distribution Center at Indiana University, Pennsylvania. The NCRPE was founded in 1971 with the purpose of promoting the academic study of religion in public schools. The NCRPE was instrumental in launching the refereed journal Religion & Public Education (now Religion & Education) and establishing a Distribution Center for the development and dissemination of curricular and other materials related to religion and public education. Upon the dissolution of the NCRPE in the mid-1990s, RPEP became the repository for the Distribution Center’s holdings.

RPEP continues to receive regular requests for these two titles dealing with teaching about the Bible:

The Bible in Literature Courses: Successful Lesson Plans by Linda Meixner with Thayer S. Warshaw.  More than a dozen lessons produced in connection with the Indiana University Institute on Teaching the Bible in Literature Courses. 1992. (246pp.), $9.00.

Handbook for Teaching the Bible in Literature Classes by Thayer S. Warshaw. Contains commentary, materials, and suggestions for teachers of the Bible in Literature classes. 1978. (416 pp.), $5.00.
