2 p.m.

A recital of songs, character pieces, and concert works featuring new music by Russell Burnham. Performers include Daun Weiss, Cara Herrick, Yael Ronen, Bradley Martin, Robert Bowman, Ryan Heimlich, Ayako Nakamura, Bruce Belton, Adrianna Gonzalez, Casson Scowcroft, and Russ Burnham.

Monk-E Around
2 p.m.

Come celebrate the music of Thelonius Monk as the Chico Jazz Collective presents an afternoon of jazz focusing on some of the amazing compositions of Jazz master Thelonius Monk.

Horns and Friends
2 p.m.

"Never let the horns and woodwinds out of your sight; if you can hear them at all, they are too loud." –Richard Strauss

Come keep an eye on the horns for Strauss at our Horn and Friends recital. The concert will feature students, faculty, and friends playing horn solos and chamber works by a variety of composers including Dukas, Mozart, and Williams.

Dimitri Shostakovich: A Portrait of the Soviet Composer
2 p.m.

Featuring a performance by faculty member Ayako Nakamura of the brilliant and humorous Trumpet Concerto and the Symphony No. 14 (Op. 135) for soprano, bass, piano and percussion. With faculty members Daun Weiss, soprano, Bradley Martin, piano, Dan Kinkle, percussion, and guest artist Zachary Gordin from Sonoma State University.

A New Voice: Sunday, Music for Clarinet, Soprano and Piano
2 p.m.

Soprano Dara Scholz, clarinetist Ryan Heimlich and pianist Bradley Martin collaborate for an afternoon of eclectic music making. Works range from well-known composers such as Ralph Vaughan Williams and Louis Spohr to contemporary Minnesotan composers Dominick Argento and Abbie Betinis.

Stravinsky’s Octet
2 p.m.

Come experience an afternoon of beautiful chamber music for wind instruments, including Stravinky's landmark composition Octet, featuring music faculty members.

Dear Delight: Songs of Romance and Love
2 p.m.

Vocalists David and Dara Scholz, accompanied by pianist Tim Westerhaus and guitarist Tobin Roye, bring the music of Vaughan Williams, Michael Head, Ivor Gurney, John Dowland, Thomas Morley, and Eric Whitacre to the stage of the Zingg Recital Hall. Come and enjoy an afternoon recital featuring the music of romance and love.

The Hanging of Pinocchio and Other Strange Arrangements
2 p.m.

Joined by a crack team of instrumental soloists, composer and guitarist David Dvorin premieres new works based on classics such as Carlo Collodi's The Adventures of Pinocchio, and Charles Ives' The Unanswered Question.

APR 15
Mozart, Brahms, and Rochberg: Sonatas and Trios
2 p.m.

An afternoon of chamber music for violin and piano; violin, horn and piano; and clarinet, horn and piano. This event is presented in cooperation with the Florestan Society and The Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival and features musicians from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music along with CSU, Chico Emeritus Professor, Dr. Russell Burnham.

The Marriage Diary of Robert and Clara Schumann
2 p.m.

Theatre faculty, Cynthia Lammel and William Johnson combine with music faculty, Daun Weiss and Bradley Martin to present music and readings from this famous nineteenth-century couple. The intense relationships between the couple and Johannes Brahms has always fascinated music lovers.

MAY 13
Crossroads
2 p.m.

Imagine Miles Davis playing Debussy. Or a ground bass of Henry Purcell's slapped out on an upright. Maybe even Holst's "Planets" as you've never heard it before. Daun Weiss and Rocky Winslow will lead this afternoon of infusion and inclusion.
