Anne-Marie Snider
Dr. Anne-Marie Snider(opens in new window), a specialist in medical sociology with a focus on mental illness, recovery, and digital care, joined the Sociology department as Assistant Professor in 2023. Previously a lecturer in our online program, Dr. Snider has been collaborating on several projects exploring care in digital settings. These projects have yielded some incredible real-world applications at Chico State, including the Mental Health Resource Guide (PDF), a comprehensive list of all Chico State’s mental health and wellness programs created by recent Sociology grad, Hannah Burgard ‘24.

2025 Sociology Commencement Stoles
Sociology Commencement stoles are now available for purchase. Stoles are optional and are not required to participate in Commencement.
Stoles are $23 each, tax included.
You will receive an email notification that your purchase was successful. Our office also receives a notification, and collects contact information for every purchase. The deadline to purchase a stole is Friday, May 9, 2025.
How to Receive Your Stole
Students attending Commencement in-person
Students who live locally or are traveling to attend Commencement are asked to pick up their stoles in person. You have a few options for pick-up:
- Sociology Department Office: May 12-16
The Sociology Department Office is located in the BSS Building, Room 210 (campus map(opens in new window); Google Map)(opens in new window). During the week of May 12-16, we will be open from 9:00am-5:00pm. You may call ahead to ensure staff are present: 530-898-6384. - At the Pre-Grad Pop-Up: May 16
We will also be distributing stoles at the Pre-Grad Pop-Up, from 3:30-5:00pm, in BSS 101 and the adjoining outdoor patio. - On Commencement Field: May 17
If you are traveling to Chico and will not make it to campus by 5:00pm on Friday, we will be at Commencement field before the ceremony begins to give you your stole.
Students not attending Commencement in-person
Students not coming to the Chico State campus may have their stole shipped. Due to inventory and staffing limitations, we will only be shipping stoles after Commencement. Please send a message to sociologystudent@csuchico.edu with your mailing address.
