Applying for a California Credential
When you begin the final phase of your credential program, Credential Services will assist you through the California credential application process.
Credential Services is the liaison between CSU, Chico credential candidates (you) and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). Credential Services assists you with the final step in obtaining a California Credential. Credential Services will be recommending you for a credential to CTC. You must complete the Credential Request for Recommendation form and submit by email to credentials@csuchico.edu(opens in new window).

Certificate of Clearance / Live Scan
The Certificate of Clearance is for individuals seeking clearance for entry into a public school setting (observation, field experience, or student teaching). The Certificate of Clearance is verification that you have completed the Commission on Teacher Credentialing fingerprint process (also called Live Scan). You will need to pay for your fingerprints to be processed by the police department AND you will pay CTC for the Certificate of Clearance.
