TPA Information

CalTPA is one of the final assessments completed by multiple subject and single subject credential candidates before they become teachers. All single subject and multiple subject credential candidates must complete this TPA. CalTPA is split up into two cycles, which can be submitted separately. Both must be passed.

CalTPA Passing Standard

The passing score standards for the redeveloped CalTPA as of August 23, 2019 are as follows: 

  • Cycle 1 (8 rubrics): A final cut score of 19 points with one score of 1 allowed. 
  • Cycle 2 (9 rubrics): A final cut score of 21 points with one score of 1 allowed.

Camcorder Check-Out Information and Equipment Help

Students may check out camcorder equipment from THMA 209 during the following hours:

  • Monday through Thursday from 2:00 PM until 4:45 PM

Please arrive at least fifteen minutes before closing when checking out or returning equipment in order to give us time to process your check out or check in. Camcorders may be checked out for a two week period.

The School of Education Assessment Coordinator, Roy Dunlap, is available at THMA 281 Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM (excluding meetings or lunch) to answer questions regarding CalTPA, TPA filming, exporting or camcorder operation. You may also reach Roy by e-mail at or by phone at 530-898-4472. Roy is also available to help with equipment checkout if a staff member at THMA 209 is not present during normal pick up hours.
