RiSE Application Requirements

Anyone applying for entry into a California credential program must be able to demonstrate subject matter competence in the content area they wish to teach.

This can be done in one of two ways: (1) through completion of a bachelor’s degree that includes a state-approved subject matter program in that content area, or (2) through successful passage of the California Subject Exam for Teachers (CSET) in that content area.

In addition to securing admission to Graduate Studies at the University, you must also complete the RiSE application requirements.  

The following items are required to apply:

    • $75 credential program application fee
    • Credential Program Application (RiSE Program Application) 
    • One copy of your professional resumé
    • School of Education Belief Statement and Experience Statement
    • Initial Writing Assessment - The Process
    • Completed Candidate Disposition Form
    • Two confidential letters of recommendation
    • Three additional references
    • One set of unofficial transcripts from all previous colleges/universities
    • Verification of tuberculosis clearance (test within the last 3 years)
    • Completed Request for Live Scan sheet for the Certificate of Clearance.

    • Verification of CBEST
    • Verification of passing the CSET Exam in your subject area OR an official waiver form signed by a subject matter advisor.
