Enrollment Verifications for Students

Students may use the Enrollment Verification Request (PDF) or request this verification in the Portal.  Enrollment verification can include a student's current program, degree(s) earned, cumulative and term GPA, class level, and/or Chico GPA.

Enrollment Verifications for Loan Deferments

California State University, Chico participates in the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC).  We submit a report four times each semester to NSC, which, in turn, supplies verification of enrollment to lending agencies.  The first report for each semester is submitted during the first week of classes.

Most lenders and loan servicing organizations that utilize NSC also participate in a paperless deferment process and have the ability to review student’s eligibility for deferment without requiring a paper form to be completed by the student or the school.  More information about lenders or organizations that utilize NSC(opens in new window).

In the case that your lender requests a paper deferment form, the Student Records & Registration Office will forward your request to NSC and they will ensure that your lender or service has the most updated information that has been submitted by CSU, Chico.  CSU, Chico cannot provide information directly to your lender.  If you enrolled in classes late, recently updated your graduation date, or had other updates that may impact your eligibility for deferment, this information may not be reported until our next NSC submission.

If you receive a collection notification from a service, you should:

  • Call your lender or service to see if they received a deferment form or updated information from NSC after they sent you a collection notification.
  • If you are advised by your lender or service to submit a paper deferment form, please bring it to Student Records & Registration and check with your lender or service regarding the status of your deferment after 2-3 weeks.  If it still appears that your deferment was not processed, call NSC at (703) 742-4200.  An NSC representative can verify the date they received the deferment form, when the deferment was certified, when your enrollment status was certified, and to which lenders or servicers your status was reported.
  • If an emergency exists, such as a pending default, NSC can intervene on your behalf by faxing another enrollment certification and will work with your service to ensure that the form is processed on a high-priority basis.

Enrollment or Degree Verifications for Prospective Employers or Agencies

CSU, Chico participates in the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) process for providing degree and enrollment verifications.  Prospective employers or agencies may request enrollment or degree verification at www.degreeverify.org.  If a student has a FERPA restriction, the written consent of the student is required by NSC to release information.  If a prospective employer or agency has submitted a request, processing typically takes 2-5 business days.

Enrollment is typically verifiable after the first week of the semester.

Degrees are typically verifiable 8-10 weeks after the official graduation date for the semester.
