MEP Scholarships

MESA Engineering Program (MEP) Scholarship Application Information

Several scholarships will be awarded each year by the MEP/CSC² program to qualified and deserving students for all majors within the College of Engineering (see eligibility below). The amounts will be in the range of $500–$2,500 per year, depending on funding.

Scholarships are awarded in June and are to be used for the following academic year. Four years is the maximum number of years a MEP/CSC2 Engineering student can receive this scholarship.

SPRING 2024 DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: Applications will be due Friday, April 26th, 2024.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be enrolled in the MEP/CSC² Engineering program at Chico State, a high school student, or community college transfer that is educationally disadvantaged, as defined by: 
    • Proof of acceptance as an (EOP) Educational Opportunity Program student at our campus or other program assistance programs
    • OR a member of the MESA Schools Program in high school
    • OR a member MESA Community College Program
    • OR a combination of other factors determined by the MEP/CSC² Engineering program, AND
  • Be enrolled full-time (12 units or more) in a College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management (ECC) major which will lead to a Bachelor of Science degree at CSU, Chico. Incoming first-time freshmen and community college transfer students must be declared majors in the College of ECC.

For current MEP/CSC² Engineering students, you must provide:

  1. A letter of recommendation from an instructor (Note: Do not request a letter from anyone in MEP/CSC²)
  2. Have an overall grade point average of 2.7 or better on a 4.0 scale
  3. Provide an essay describing your involvement in MEP/CSC², academic goals, and financial obstacles

For high school and transfer students you must:

  1. Submit a letter of recommendation from an instructor or counselor
  2. Have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or better for high school students and 2.8 or better for transfer students
  3. Submit your official transcripts
  4. Provide an essay describing why you want to be an engineer or scientist
