Planning Process

The strategic planning process involved the entire campus community the last year to explore who we are and create a bold and realistic vision for our future. The planning process included a number of distinct phases.

Process Design (Completed)

Purpose: 
  • To define and propose an appropriate and realistic strategic planning framework that will allow for the greatest long term strategic planning success at CSU, Chico.

Environmental Scan (Completed)

Purpose: To gain insight into:
  • The nature and character of CSU, Chico, both now and over time.
  • The internal and external perceptions of CSU, Chico, both now and over time.
  • The strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats facing CSU, Chico as an institution of higher education in a changing environment.

Campus and Community Engagement (Completed)

Purpose: 
  • To create awareness of, and involvement in, the strategic planning process among all members of the campus and community.
  • To provide the campus and community with a voice in deciding the future of the institution.
  • To solicit honest input on strategic planning issues.

Draft Strategic Plan (Completed)

Purpose: 
  • To document and integrate campus and community input.
  • To review of the institution’s mission, vision, and values.
  • To establish strategic priorities and goals.
  • To develop an implementation framework for achieving those goals that is realistic, achievable, measurable, and provides clear accountability.

Campus and Community Feedback (Completed)

Purpose: 
  • To continue awareness of, and involvement in, the strategic planning process among all members of the campus and community.
  • To provide the campus and community with a continued voice in deciding the future of the institution.
  • To solicit honest feedback on the draft strategic plan.

Finalize Strategic Plan (Completed)

Purpose: 
  • To incorporate campus and community feedback into the final strategic plan.
  • To finalize and approve the strategic plan.
  • To communicate the final strategic plan to the campus and community.
  • To begin preparing for the implementation of the plan.
