Bundled Costs Make Planning Easier
Apartments in Chico may seem less expensive at first, especially when students share rent with roommates. However, rent is only one part of the total cost. Students living off campus may also need to budget separately for food, utilities, internet, furniture, deposits, transportation, and other living expenses.

University Housing bundles many of these costs together, including furniture, utilities, Wi-Fi, and a meal plan. This can make expenses easier to understand and plan for.

Depending on the housing option and what a student would otherwise pay off campus, University Housing may be comparable to—or even less than—the total cost of an apartment once food, utilities, internet, furniture, and other expenses are included.

Quality of Life Benefits
Living on campus also offers benefits that go beyond cost. Students are close to classes, dining, study spaces, campus resources, clubs, events, and other students.

For many students, especially those new to Chico State, University Housing provides a convenient, connected, and supportive way to start their college experience.

The first installment of each semester includes an additional $25 Residence Hall Association (RHA) Fee which serves residents by creating a living and learning experience within University-owned residence halls.

Disclaimer: The CSU makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve the right, even after fees are initially charged or initial fee payments are made, to increase or modify any listed fees. All listed fees, other than mandatory systemwide fees, are subject to change without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun. Changes in mandatory systemwide fees will be made in accordance with the requirements of the Working Families Student Fee Transparency and Accountability Act (Sections 66028 - 66028.6 of the Education Code).
