Yes. Please contact the Admissions office at info@csuchico.edu or 530-898-6322 to request a tour.
No. Due to limited space, we cannot house every student who wants to live with us. However, all students are eligible to apply for on-campus housing. If you are new to the University, please submit your housing application and Intent to Enroll and complete all required application steps on the Apply for Housing page.
Professional staff members oversee each residence hall. Our live-in staff are responsible for the overall operation of their assigned communities, and have been extensively trained in housing management post-college. Resident Advisors also live in the halls and are student staff who organize activities, advise students on university life, and work to build a sense of community among residents.
Chico State provides campus-wide Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, wired connections are not available. All students will connect their devices to the campus network Eduroam. Visit the ITSS office for instructions and assistance with connecting devices to the campus Wi-Fi.
The beds do not loft or bunk (unless you are in a room that was already lofted/bunked), but they can adjust within about a 2 ft capacity. Residents are also allowed to use the risers they have purchased.
No stuffed furniture (couches, chairs, bean bags) is allowed in the halls due to safety issues, fire code, and the chance to introduce bed bugs as well as other pests such as fleas and cockroaches.
Some halls have available kitchens for Resident use. Lassen, Shasta, and Mechoopda are the only places with a community kitchen, but not Esken or Éstom Jámani. University Village apartments and Konkow houses come equipped with a full kitchen.
Bathrooms in all residence halls are shared. University Village has private baths shared between roommates. Shasta, Lassen, Mechoopda, Esken, and Konkow halls offer limited lockers in the community bathrooms. These lockers are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis during move-in.
We do not allow you to bring your own mini-fridge or microwave. University Housing will be providing a Micro-Chill (fridge & microwave combo unit) in every room, with the exception of University Village and Konkow, which have full kitchens. The Micro-Chill will be provided at no additional cost.
For those who have a room and meal assignment, charges will be assessed at least one week prior to the first payment deadline of the semester. Continue to check your personal and Wildcat emails for updates. For specific rates and due dates, see Cost Overview.
We do not require renter's insurance; however, we highly recommend that you have coverage. You can purchase renters insurance from our partner, GradGuard, during the housing application process. You can also purchase coverage directly from the GradGuard website by searching for "CSU Chico."
GradGuard is a company we partner with that provides renters insurance. You can find more information, including customer service contact information, on the GradGuard website. Have questions? View the GradGuard renters insurance FAQs.
We partner with Campus Ready to offer dorm essentials packages. You can have your order delivered to your home to bring with you or sent directly to campus in time for move-in. Visit the Campus Ready ordering website to view available packages and options.
All packages and letter mail for University Village are delivered to our Parcel Pending parcel locker system located just outside the UV Hub. Packages for all other halls are delivered to the front desk of the resident's community once they are processed. Konkow residents pick up packages from the Mechoopda Hall front desk.
University Housing Mail Services delivers packages and letter mail to the Parcel Pending lockers at University Village twice a day, Monday–Friday, during the semester. Weekend delivery to the lockers is also available, although deliveries may take place only once per day depending on volume. If you wish to schedule your own mail, please arrange delivery to a local UPS, FedEx, Amazon, or USPS pickup location.
Carriers are not allowed to deliver packages directly within University Village and are redirected to the University Housing Mailroom at 545 Legion Ave., Chico, CA 95926.
Please allow 24–48 hours for packages to be logged and delivered. You will receive a text and an email at your Wildcat email address once a package has been placed in a parcel locker for you. Packages may be picked up any time, day or night, once you receive a retrieval code.
Central Campus mail services are located at Whitney Hall around the side of the building.
If you are having issues with mail, please contact the Mail Manager at uhmail@csuchico.edu. Please anticipate longer processing and distribution times at the beginning of each academic semester and during holiday periods.
Main Campus: Distribution Services delivers packages to the University Housing mailroom, where they are sorted and distributed to the appropriate residence hall front desk for resident pickup. Konkow Hall residents pick up their mail at the Mechoopda Hall front desk.
University Village: All packages and letter mail for University Village are delivered to our Parcel Pending parcel locker system located just outside the UV Hub.
Your Name on Mail: We ask that you use the name listed in your Resident Center, as we need to be able to match legal names. We want you to receive your care packages and textbooks as much as you do! When letting family, friends, or companies know your address, please use the following format to correctly address mail to you.
Residence Hall Matters: It is important to include the correct building and room number, as many people share similar names.

Parking for residential students living on campus is extremely limited. Students are encouraged to consider not bringing a car to Chico State. The campus is very walkable, and there is a grocery store and a large variety of restaurants within walking distance.
In June, when students learn their community (building) assignment, they will be asked if they would like to join the parking lottery. Parking lottery winners will be notified in early August and will have the ability to purchase a B Lot (Residential Student Parking) or University Village parking permit.
To learn more about parking permit costs, visit Student Financial Services Parking Permits.
The B-Line Bus, our local public bus system, provides free bus service to and from campus every 30 minutes on academic days.
The Campus Connection Shuttle is provided free of charge by the University Police Department as an alternative to walking on campus at night. Campus Connection has a stop at University Village to provide residents with a safe way to get home from campus at night.
The University Village Shuttle stop is adjacent to the South Community Building, next to Building 11. The on-campus shuttle stop is adjacent to Langdon Hall at the corner of West First and Ivy streets. We encourage residents to arrive at the pickup locations early to increase their chances of getting a seat on the shuttle.

The Parking Lottery is the only opportunity to purchase a permit. Residents are entered into the Parking Lottery after University Housing has confirmed that they will have a bed space. Instructions on how to sign up will be sent to students via their Wildcat email. Permits need to be repurchased for spring, and all fall permit holders will be invited to a second priority purchase period in January to buy their spring permits.
Important: Parking is extremely limited in our B and UV lots. Our residence halls (Esken, Mechoopda, Konkow, Éstom Jámani, Lassen, and Shasta) host 1,000 residents with 260 spaces available, and University Village hosts 700 residents with 300 spaces. If you are not able to purchase a permit, it is strongly advised that you leave your car at home.
Chico is an extremely bike-friendly campus, and you can get to everything you need within minutes. For other transportation or parking options, including G parking permits, visit the Parking Services website.
Yes. Chico State is a bike-friendly campus, and bicycle parking is available throughout campus. Students are responsible for providing their own lock and securing bicycles in designated bicycle parking areas. Secure bicycle lockers and a bicycle cage are also available through the Parking Services website for a fee.
Bicycles may be stored in residence hall rooms, but motorcycles, mopeds, electric scooters, and gasoline are not permitted to be stored in rooms.
To check your remaining meal swipes and Flex Cash balance, visit Atrium.
Additional meals can be purchased in blocks of 25 during the semester. We recommend waiting until you have only 10 meal swipes remaining before purchasing more.
To order additional meal blocks, visit Purchase Meal Plans or Request Additional Swipes.
This will take you to the "Purchase a Meal Plan" form. From there, select the option for 25 additional meal swipes under "Residents Additional Swipes."
Residents in University Village and Konkow have the option of upgrading their plan for an additional cost to either the 5-Day or 7-Day All Access meal plan at any point during the semester.
Meal swipes can be used at Éstom Jámani Dining Center and Wildcat Den. Flex Cash can be used at dining and retail locations across campus, including Éstom Jámani, Butte Station, Wildcat Den, Common Grounds, campus food trucks, concessions, Urban Roots, the Behavioral and Social Sciences Café, and Marketplace Café.
Each student will have an extra-long twin bed (36" x 80"), desk with chair, trash can, storage drawers, and closet space. University Village and Konkow have a table and chairs in the dining area, as well as a refrigerator, stove, and microwave in the kitchen. At University Village, there are no cooking or serving utensils/equipment provided.
All of our communities are equipped with coin-free, accessible laundry facilities. Download the WASH-Connect app to pay for washing and drying and receive notifications when your laundry is done. You can also use the app to submit refund requests and service requests for machines that are out of service.
Watch How to Sign Up and Use WASH-Connect to learn how to download and use the app.
In addition to a variety of computing services on campus, computer labs are available in most communities, and all communities have printing services. All lab computers are connected to the campus network. You can print directly from a lab computer or send documents to a printer from your personal device. Both methods use the campus CatPrints program. Students receive 50 free prints per semester and pay per print after that using funds loaded onto their ID cards.
We suggest bringing items that will help you feel at home in your room, with some exceptions. Review What to Bring to School before packing.
Yes, University Housing does not provide vacuums.
University Village is less than a mile from campus and is an easy bike ride or walk away. It is also conveniently located near Safeway, restaurants, and a B-Line bus stop. Check the Walk Score for more details.
If an item in your bedroom is damaged and there is no record of pre-existing damage from the time you checked into the space, the resident(s) assigned to the room or apartment are responsible for the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged item. You can find more details on the Damage Billing Information page.
University Housing reserves the right to assess the cost of repairs to common areas, including hallways, lounges, and restrooms, and distribute those charges to all residents of a floor or building.
Review our Move-Out Cleaning Tips for help cleaning your space.
When signing up for fall, the License Agreement is for the entire academic year. Students entering University Housing for the spring semester are eligible for a one-semester License Agreement. For details and exceptions regarding early license release, refer to Section VI on the Agreements, Guides and Forms page.
