Parent and Guest Orientation Program
Families play an important role in students' transition to college. We know that you may have questions about Chico State and your student's transition to the university. We encourage parents and guests to attend Orientation.
During the parent/supporter session, you will learn how to support your student on their new journey. Topics include:
- Paying for College – Understand tuition and registration fees, viewing your student account, types of financial aid, cost of attendance, and ways to cover costs.
- Academic Advising – Learn about Chico State's advising system, academic requirements, course planning strategies, and important class registration information.
- On- and Off-Campus Housing – Explore housing expectations, strategies, and resources available to support student success.
- Campus Resources – Learn about resources such as the Student Learning Center and First-Year Experience that provide academic support and help students prepare for their new academic department.
- Getting Involved – Discover opportunities for your student to get involved and make the most of their Chico State experience inside and outside the classroom.
- Campus Safety – Learn about safety resources designed to empower students and support smart choices on their path toward success.
And much more! Students can register a parent or guest when they register for Orientation.
