Kenya Chavez

Interim Coordinator, Study Abroad & Exchange
Direct Exchange, CSU IP & National Student Exchange Lead Advisor

Kenya was born and raised in Chico and attended Chico State as an undergraduate, starting as an undeclared student and later earning degrees in Latin American Studies and Spanish with Honors in GE. During her undergraduate education, Kenya studied abroad in Spain twice, including a faculty-led program, and later for a full academic year with CSU International Programs in Madrid. As a student Kenya was also a Summer Orientation Peer Advisor and worked in the Career Center as a Student Assistant on campus.

After graduation, Kenya traveled back to Madrid, Spain where she resided and worked for over seven years teaching English as a second language.  During her time in Madrid, Kenya held teaching positions with various institutions and worked with students of all ages. Her last appointment included training and supporting fellow English teachers.

Kenya is thrilled to be able to share her knowledge and background to assist students from all backgrounds in discovering all of the amazing experiences and opportunities that the Study Abroad & Exchange Office offers.  She is delighted to be back in Chico and is a proud member of the 1st Generation Faculty & Staff Association.  She loves spending her free time riding her moped around town, biking throughout Bidwell Park and socializing at the her favorite restaurants and cafes.
