Program Extension

We are pleased to hear you have been enjoying yourself overseas and that you wish to continue your international academic adventure.

Find your program below and follow the instructions to extend your semester or year abroad:

USAC & AIFS

1. Inform your Resident Director at your overseas center that you plan to extend.

2. Contact the USAC or AIFS Central Office to find out what additional paperwork you will need to submit.

3. Submit the Intent to Extend (PDF) and an updated Financial Planning (PDF) form to the Study Abroad Office:

Direct Exchange

1. Visit the international student advisor(s) at the host university and inquire as to whether or not it's possible to extend.

2. Contact the Study Abroad Office at CSU, Chico to ensure an extension is allowable.  In some cases it isn't possible to extend due to impaction, so the sooner you submit a request, the better. You can submit this inquiry to Jacob Edington: jedington@csuchico.edu.  

3.Submit the Intent to Extend (PDF) and an updated Financial Planning (PDF) form to the Study Abroad Office (only after completing the first two steps):

1. Request a "renewal application" from the Resident Director at your overseas center.  The deadline to apply for a second year is February 15th.

2. Inform your Study Abroad Advisor at CSU, Chico of your intention to extend.
