Patty Hunter has served as the Director of Field Education since 2001. Prior to her employment with CSU, Chico School of Social Work, she spent ten years practicing in the community mental health field and ten years as a school social worker. Additionally, she was a member of the School of Social Work adjunct faculty for five years. Patty has taught the undergraduate practice courses, field seminar at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and the group practice and supervision and administration courses in the MSW program. She has also taught field for California State University, Sacramento and California State University, Long Beach. Patty also serves as the Co-Director of the Hartford Practicum Partnership in Aging Education.

In addition, Patty serves on the board of directors for a local foster care agency, a school attendance review board, and is a member of the Professional Development Committee for the California Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. 

Patty’s research interests include international field placements, trauma informed practice and supervision, alternate models of field education, and school based intervention programs.
