This four-day, CSU-designed, “Principles of Supervision” training program covers basic supervision skills to include performance management, developing direct reports, guiding and organizing the work, managing relationships, and managing yourself.

Come learn perspectives and styles of management, as well as:

  • Coaching and communicating with direct reports
  • How to guide work
  • Corrective action
  • Performance evaluation input
  • What good supervisors do (and don’t do)
  • Learn more about yourself and your management style

This course is delivered in a four-day, five-part format.  It requires four full days, is highly interactive, requires some independent work and approximately 30-40 hours of post session work over the next 6-12 months.  Participants must commit to attending both days and all five modules to complete the training.

  • Module 1: Supervisory Skills Assessment
  • Module 2: Managing Performance and Developing Direct Reports
  • Module 3: Guiding and Organizing the Work
  • Module 4: Managing Relationships
  • Module 5: Managing Yourself

Post session: participants will be expected to attend follow-up meetings and reunions for at least 6 months to build their skills with what they learned. The post-session dual-support structure allows for continual practice and focus on what was learned so attendees can become proficient with their new skills. This strong support structure facilitates application of what was learned post workshop. Post session meetings include:

  • Monthly 1-1/2 hour reunions for 12 months
  • Weekly 1-hour accountability partner meetings for 26 weeks
  • Quarterly 1-hour webcasts (starting mid-year)
