Ground Disturbance Activities
CSU Systemwide NAGPRA Policy & Ground Disturbance Activities
Chico State is committed to fully implementing the spirit as well as the policy requirements of the CSU Systemwide NAGPRA Policy which applies to all CSU employees including administrators, faculty, emeriti faculty, staff and student employees at all CSU locations and properties including campuses, off-site campuses, offices, auxiliaries, and other units controlled and operated by the CSU including field schools.
In compliance with the CSU Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) Policy any short-term academic program or course with a field work component that involves any ground disturbing activity or that may result in ground disturbance activities, as defined by the CSU NAGPRA Policy must complete the Ground Disturbance Activities Form (PDF) and be routed through the Office of Tribal Relations for Tribal consultation.
In compliance with the policy, campuses must engage in meaningful consultation with culturally affiliated or potentially culturally affiliated Tribes. This consultation ensures that Tribal perspectives, concerns, and cultural protocols are respected and incorporated into the planning and execution of such activities.

The Tribal Consultation process may take up to a few months complete; as such Tribal Relations recommends completing the Ground Disturbance Activities Form (PDF) at least a semester in advance.
