Meet Megan Kurtz

I came to Chico State as a transfer student from Bakersfield Community College and started my Chico experience living at University Village, the off-campus university owned apartments.  After exploring a few different majors I earned my degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Recreation Administration (2004).  After college I had the opportunity to stay in the North State and work with children with disabilities as the ARC of Butte Counties socialization program manager. Yet the call to be back on the Chico State campus was never far away. I was able to start working with the TRiO Student Support Services program in 2007 and have taken great joy in helping the program thrive on campus.  Realizing that working with college students is a passion of mine I returned to school to earn my MA in Education (2012). There is something uniquely special about helping young people discover and navigate higher education, and I consider myself truly lucky to work along side with TRiO students everyday.   Part of the charm that makes up Chico is the energy and life that students bring to the community. My husband, daughter, and 80-lb black lab enjoy the downtown Chico area and local parks very much and take full advantage of what Chico has to offer. It is not uncommon to find us on the weekends at community events, eating at local restaurants, or simply taking a walk through Bidwell Park.
