First-Year Orientation Concentrating on University Success
FOCUS gives first-year scholars a head start by knowing what resources are available on campus, connecting with academic and financial coaches, and meeting new friends.
The following services are included in the FOCUS package:
- One-on-one coaching sessions with TRIO SSS staff over the summer and throughout the academic year
- Specialized advising at the CSU, Chico Summer Orientation, as well as a discount on the registration fee
- Four day TRIO SSS welcome and orientation program during Wildcat Welcome Week in August
- Semester-long First Year Enrichment Seminar with other TRIO SSS first-years in the fall
- Field School camping trip with TRIO SSS professional and student staff
- Various cultural enrichment activities
- TRIO SSS grant offered to Pell-eligible first-years and second-years who meet all program requirements
